Career Planning Associate Needed


Job Title: Career Planning Associate

Level: Associate I
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, Education with preferable experience in counseling. Must be computer literate and fluent in English

As the Andela Career Planning Associate, you will be responsible for assisting Fellows in planning their careers as well as developing and achieving career goals.
Roles and Responsibilities
Career Planning
  • Provide individual counseling to Developers regarding career planning, including self assessment, career research, career pathing, goal setting and professional development
  • Provide appropriate help, advice and recommendations based on one-on-one interviews and/or group sessions;
  • Support Fellows with the management of their own careers by developing career plans that cover their time at Andela as well as what they want to do when they graduate from the Fellowship;
  • Check in with the Fellows to ensure that they are making progress on their career plans as well as updating it to reflect their new interests or options made available;

Programme Management
  • Create, organise and facilitate career programs, workshops and a variety of other internal events (e.g. Fellow assessments, presentations, career fairs, etc.);
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to organise and facilitate industry and employment specific events and workshops that facilitate learning, skills/career competencies development, and networking opportunities.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Assist with the collection, managing and reporting of information, statistics and data on an on-going basis and for various weekly reports
  • Report data from all Fellow career plans to ensure that Andela is offering the necessary training to support the most desired career options;
  • Collate and share weekly Career Planning updates on the internal Success intranet site
Other Requirements:
  • Demonstrated track record of innovative thinking and problem solving; demonstrated business acumen.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills; successfully working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with planning, executing, assessing and evaluating programs.
  • Experience in guiding people to make the right decision versus making it for them
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing and delivering presentations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of career/professional development and success.
  • Experience working with a diverse population and building positive relationships and partnerships.
  • Experience in guiding people to make the right decision versus making it for them
  • Working experience in a technical company or has other relevant experience in understanding technical roles and career paths
  • The successful candidate must possess both the ability and the willingness to work independently and act on her/his independent judgment.
